Arlington Public Schools is Hiring a Reading Specialist (Internal Only) Near Arlington, VA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Arlington Public Schools (APS) requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose ofc an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen (i.e. Pfizer, Moderna, and/or Johnson and Johnson). As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

All Teachers hired after January 15th are considered termed employees. This position is a termed position that is effective for FY23 through June 16, 2023 only. You would need to re-apply for a position for FY24.

This position is a 0.2 FTE located at Taylor Elementary School .

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Current knowledge regarding language arts research and practice.
  • Current knowledge of language arts materials including core programs, supplementary programs, and children's literature.
  • Current knowledge of both group and individual assessment and how to interpret the results.
  • Ability to lead team meetings and language arts committees as needed.
EXPERIENCE:
    Three years of classroom experience, preferably elementary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
  • Must have or be eligible for reading endorsement (masters in reading or masters in another teaching area plus reading endorsement).
  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
